The promise of Industrial Wind Turbines and Industrial Solar Fields is that it is “clean” energy. This is a clever marketing slogan that is not based in reality. They kill, have been associated with various illnesses, and make massive impacts on the ecologies where they are placed.

Below is just a sample of the potential impacts. These are just a small sample of the thousands of studies and articles that have been published showing the threat brought on by these industries.

Human health:

• 30% increased risk of Atrial Fibrillation with exposure as low as 20 dB(A) at night

• PFAS “Forever chemicals” that are known carcinogens are used in Turbine coatings and lubricants

• Infrasound from wind turbines travels miles and has been associated with sleep disruption, headaches, dizziness, and cardiovascular effects in nearby residents

  • While not directly related to turbines, infrasound is so powerful it has been developed into weapons

• Shadow Flicker this study shows the stimuli that can trigger seizures exist at distances of 100 times the hub height of the turbine, which would equate to about 7 miles for the ones proposed in Wisconsin

• Solar Panels may be classified as hazardous waste and cost 10-20x more to recycle, than just bury in a landfill

Wildlife:

• Wisconsin is home to 207 Species of Concern including 87 that are endangered. Six bats and 37 birds are on the species of concern list

• 1.72 million estimated bat deaths due to turbines in 2019

• 1.17 million estimated bird deaths

  • AND they they were only able to find 10% of the carcasses

  • In one California study, turbine collisions accounted for 41% of fatalities among radio-tagged golden eagles

• Badgers have double the amount of stress hormone when living near turbines

Livestock

• Hogs with lower muscle mass when raised near turbines

• Horses born with deformities when near turbines in Portugal and needs further research

Water

• Data centers can consume up to 5 million gallons of water a day

• Turbine construction on karst (the type of geology in the Driftless area of Wisconsin) poses many potential issues

• Wisconsin is covered with old documented and undocumented lead mines and some preliminary maps provided by developers show construction to occur near or on known lead mines

Property values

• Given the health risks and damage to view shed, property losses will likely occur for those in the project area.
